Cordie Aziz is Executive Director of Environment360, an NGO who won the UNICEF Reach for Change Award in 2015. Ms Aziz is a passionate wastepreneur who works with stakeholders in the waste value chain to create circular economies in developing countries. She works with communities , government, private sector and diplomatic agencies to create programs that improve livelihoods, as well as the environment. She strongly believes that developing countries must adapt tailored sustainable solutions that fit their culture and economic situations. As the founder of Environment360 she has raised nearly one million dollars for environmental projects in Ghana and empowered more than 300 informal workers. Her major accomplishments include launching the first waste pickers sorting center in Ghana, as well as creating the first successful community collection scheme for recyclables. Before starting Environment360, Ms. Aziz worked on the Committee on Homeland Security for the United States Congress. She obtained her masters degree in Public Policy from Bowie State University and her bachelors degree in Communications from Jackson State University, both historically black colleges located in the United States.
