21. Benefits of Responsible Research and Innovation for successful transitions

Providing solutions to many unclosed loops on the way towards a circular economy, Research and Innovation (R&I) plays a vital role in transitions at work. But how can we secure the acceptance, applicability and marketability of results and products? Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) is a concept explored and implemented in the EU funding framework Horizon 2020, which calls for the participation of all stakeholders in R&I processes right from the beginning. The aim is to better align R&I with the needs, concerns and expectations of European society, thus improving results and their impact. The workshop introduces RRI and gives valuable examples of successful application. Participants are invited to share their experiences and to explore how RRI could enhance current transition processes in their specific work contexts.
